SARAJEVO

Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its largest urban, cultural, economic and traffic center, the capital of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the headquarters of the Sarajevo Canton, which according to estimates, has 429.672 inhabitants. Through the city flows the river Miljacka, near the city and the source of the river Bosna, with popular excursion Sarajlije, Vrelo Bosnia. Around the city are the Olympic mountains: Jahorina, Bjelasnica, Igman, Treskavica and Trebević, which are especially during the winter months Sarajlije favorite excursion for tourists from all over the world.


Bascarsija the old Sarajevo čaršija and historical and cultural center of the city. Bascarsija was built in the 15th Ages when Isa Beg Isakovic established whole city. Bascarsija word originates from the word "right", which means "primary" in Turkish, so Bascarsija means "main čaršija. Due to the large fire in the 19th Ages, today Bascarsija twice smaller than it once was.
City Hall is located in Sarajevo, near the Bascarsije Mustaj-Pašin Mejdan and represents the finest and most representative building from Austro-Hungarian period built in pseudo-Moorish style. (In this style made the majority of buildings that were left in Sarajevo, Austrian-Hungarian government, a synonym for the Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia-Herzegovina: a trademark that time).
